Time keeps on slipping

Time is undefeated. We cannot make more of it. What is most important is that we spend time and invest in time in wise ways. Appreciate it. Cherish it. Time is fleeting.

I used to think I had so much time and as I grew I started to notice the slip of time in my life. There were precious moments that I was not always enjoying – even when they were hard or downright terrible.

It seems weird to say we should enjoy the rough moments, but the reality is that no moment lasts forever. So even tough ones pass.

That always helps me appreciate the better moments life has to offer. It allows me to find a focus and perspective that lets gratitude overtake the hard times that life will almost always give us.

Steve Miller Band had the lyrics “Time keeps on slipping into the future”. This could not be any truer in its simplicity of thought. Time goes on with us or without us. It takes no care in if we are aware of the fleeting nature of its existence. It just is.

So as I age I have become more aware of its presence in every moment of my life. Recently I was on a podcast for Wrestling Mindset and I even stated that time was precious and valuable. My recognition of it in my life now has made a difference in my ability to enjoy moments more.

This also means I take it in more and cherish a moment as it is happening. In a sense, I have gained a special sense of gratitude for the power time plays in things and how sometimes we don’t get a chance to go back and appreciate a moment again. Staying rooted in love and appreciation for the thing that is happening in that moment has allowed me to be more present and grounded in the reality of time’s ever moving flow.

What is a moment you found appreciation in as it passed?

Would you like the power to repeat time or just enjoy it as it happens?
